Here are some random photos.
Simba inspecting the painting that I won of him, done by Leanne Wildermuth at Intricate Art. I love it!
Some general cute kitty photos:
(Eggy was trying to warm her feet because the air conditioning was on high). Sorry I haven't any recent photos of Jiblets! He runs and hides too much.
Here is a photo of me in my new swim goggles for my sister who gave me the gift certificate I used to purchase them. (Log in to see)
My little Eggatha is no longer a kitten, as today she turns one year old. Where has the time gone? She started as a tiny four pound little baby and has grown into a beautiful, elegant cat. She has become the best of friends with Simba and fighting partners with Jiblets. Her meow has transformed from a sound almost inaudible to one loud enough to wake me up (unforuntately). Although we were told at the time we adopted her that she was deaf, she has the ability to hear, especially higher pitched sounds. Sometimes when she is doing something wrong she pretends she can't hear, though. She likes to watch television, but sometimes gets scared if the images move too quickly on the screen. Of all the cats she remains the most likely to crawl into your lap, although she still hasn't figured out gravity and sometimes nearly rolls out of that lap in hopes of getting her belly scratched.
Happy Birthday pretty girl. I am so glad those other people didn't get you.
Here are some photos of her over the time that she has been with us.

One of my prizes for winning the Project Blog competition earlier this year was a pet portrait by Leanne Wildermuth of Artist by Nature. I submitted several photographs of Simba and she is creating an oil painting of him.
She tracks her work on her blog and has a sketch of Simba already posted (toward the middle of the blog entry, the third cat shown). Notice that she called him "stunning."
Today Jiblets turns 2! Here are three photos: when we first brought him home, his first birthday, and today:
Happy Birthday to Simba Kitty, who turned 10 years old today! He enjoyed his day with his annual treat of pet grass.
Mom, seriously, stop reading. You don't want to hear this story because it will give you nightmares. Trust me. Don't say I didn't warn you.
The weather is absolutely balmy today, at above 40. After weeks of temperatures hovering around zero, it feels like summer. The cats were happy to have the temperatures return to a tolerable level, because that means that they can go out onto the balcony (which we have screened in with chicken wire to prevent escape).
I was sitting here working and started writing an e-mail to Prince E to tell him how happy Jiblets looked to be out on the balcony watching the birds fly around; they too must be enjoying the weather.
Then, it happened. I saw Jiblets come in from the balcony carry a dead bird in his mouth. I screamed I think. I think I even said, "Jiblets!!" as though he would know he was being naughty and take it back outside. He carried it all the way to the other couch and then started walking back toward me.
Then the "dead" bird flew at me. And circled my head. I definitely screamed then. I was so distracted by my own freak-out, that I am not exactly sure how Jiblets managed to end up with the bird in his mouth again, but he did.
I ran out onto the balcony to call Prince E at work. I mean, I had no idea what to with a probably (for real this time) dead bird in my apartment. How would I get it away from Jiblets? I knew I didn't want him to eat it, because it could make him sick. I hoped Prince E might provide some guidance.
I got a hold of Prince E and started talking excitedly, "JilbletsfuckingbroughtafuckingbirdintothehouseandIthoughtitwasdeadandthenitflewaroundmyheadandhecaughtitagain." Prince E said, "What, something's burning?" As I relayed the story again, slower this time, the "dead" bird flew out of the balcony door.
I immediately ran inside and slammed the door shut.
It took 10 minutes for my heart to stop racing.
Prince E said, "Are you sure you are alright? Because I have been trying hard not to laugh."
In retrospect, I really wish I hadn't freaked out and had grabbed the camera instead. Would have made a great video.
