Why are my dreams so weird?

The last two nights I have had extremely bizarre dreams, made only stranger by their tremendous length and scene changes.  Here they are in brief (if I recapped the whole thing, we would be here all day):

Tuesday night:  My sister (Kiki) and I were being held captive by some kind of communist regime.  Kiki said that we had gotten there by going south from Mississippi, but that may have been code or something.  We decided to escape and we looked at the border and it was being personally guarded by Hugo Chavez.  In my dream, it looked like he was standing on a large map which showed the border between whatever country we were in and the next one.  He was not armed and was wearing a navy blue velour tracksuit. My sister and I talked about what we needed to take with us, like our passports (which is weird, because I would think we would be avoiding customs in our escape).  Unfortunately, though, our papers were in my school locker and I could not remember the combination!  (That part is recurring in my dreams.  I always reassure myself while dreaming that I can go to the office to get the combination or have the janitor open it for me).  I think that was the end.

Wednesday night: I go to a self-help meeting for weight loss and the woman sitting next to me is smoking.  I tell her that is not very healthy and she gets mad and puts out the cigarette on the floor, but it continues to smoke like a campfire.  At the meeting we have to play a board game about finance.  After the meeting, a woman (who in my dream was a woman whose blog I read) invited me to her house.  To get there, we turned into Toad from Mario Kart and traveled through part of the game (too much wii lately, I guess).  We executed the trick on the jump perfectly, which landed us in her kitchen.  We were sitting at the table when a man came in, who was this woman's boyfriend.  She said something to him about "Becky" and when I turned to tell her that was not my name, it occurred to me that she was introducing herself as Becky, even though that is not her name.  The man talked to people who weren't there and I joked "invisible friends?"   He shot me a confused look and "Becky" told me telepathically that he is crazy and sees invisible people and that everyday she tells him a new name.
